Explore Seoul, Here’s How!

#1. Introduction

Hello, I am here to share information that can be helpful to all those who love traveling. Today, I would like to introduce travel courses and tips for ‘Seoul’, a representative city of Korea. Let’s prepare together for the best experience in Seoul, where history, culture, food, and shopping are harmoniously combined.

#2. First Day: Myeongdong & Namsan

The start of your Seoul trip is in ‘Myeongdong’! Myeongdong is full of various shopping spots and eateries and is a place where you can check out the latest fashion trends in Korea. There are also many cosmetic stores where you can experience K-Beauty, so be sure to stop by if you’re interested.

After touring Myeongdong, move to ‘Namsan’ nearby. You can go up to the top of Namsan by taking a cable car or walking. The view of downtown Seoul from the top will be an unforgettable memory.

And around Namsan there are various unique restaurants famous for dishes like Kimchi fried rice at ‘Namsan Bokjip’ and various grilled raw fish at ‘Namsan Saengseonhoe’. Having a delicious meal with typical Korean night views alone will be a valuable experience.

#3. Second Day: Jongno & Insadong

On the second day it’s time to experience deeper Korean culture. The ‘Jongno’ and ‘Insadong’ areas coexist with tradition and modernity; from Hanbok experiences to traditional tea houses offer diverse experiences.

In particular what I recommend is visiting the National Folk Museum located in Jongno and direct pottery or brush writing experiences available on Insadong street. Also on the way leading to ‘Samcheondong’, there are many artists’ studios or galleries which should not be missed by travelers who love art.

#4.Third Day: Gangnam & Itaewon

On your third day visit Gangnam area which stands out with its modern aspects and Itaewon where you can enjoy food and cultures from various nationalities. Around Gangnam station there are concentrated shopping malls, restaurants cafes etc., so you can enjoy diverse activities.

Itaewon is a great place to make memories in Korea with foreign friends. There are many restaurants and bars where you can taste foods from all over the world so it’s also recommended for gourmet travelers.

#5.Fourth Day: Bukchon & Gyeongbokgung Palace

On your fourth day visit Bukchon Hanok Village

and Gyeongbokgung Palace to experience a more Korean atmosphere. In Bukchon Hanok Village, you can experience the beauty of traditional houses, and at Gyeongbokgung Palace, you can appreciate the architecture and gardens of the Joseon Dynasty.

Gyeongbokgung is one of the most famous and visited palaces in Seoul, where you can enjoy beautiful buildings and gardens from the Joseon era. If you visit in Hanbok (traditional Korean dress), admission is free, so it’s a good idea to rent a Hanbok from a rental shop.

#6. Seoul Travel Tips

I would also like to share some useful tips for traveling in Seoul:

  • Public Transportation: Seoul has a well-developed public transportation system. It is efficient to use subways or buses when moving to specific areas. Also, purchasing a T-money card will make it easy for you to pay for transportation fees.
  • Food: Seoul is a city where various food cultures are mixed together. Look for unique local foods in each area. For example, in Myeongdong, you can taste Myeongdong dumplings and kalguksu (noodle soup), and in Insadong, you can enjoy traditional tea and snacks.
  • Language: Basic English conversation is possible but using apps like Google Translate may also help with communication.
  • Shopping: Seoul is a shopping paradise. From fashion items to electronics, various products are sold at reasonable prices. Especially Myeongdong, Dongdaemun, Gangnam etc., are known as great places for shopping.

#7 Additional Travel Destination Recommendations

In addition to the travel courses suggested above there are many more sights and experiences available within Seoul.

In ‘Seoul Forest’ you can experience healing within an urban setting while ‘Lotte World’ or ‘Seoul Land’ amusement parks provide fun times with children.

Also at high-rise buildings such as ’63 Building’, ‘Lotte World Tower’, etc., there’s an opportunity see all of Seoul’s skyline at once.
